Spare a thought for the woman who owns the @fifa Twitter account
YESTERDAY, SEVERAL FIFA officials were arrested on charges of ‘racketeering, conspiracy and corruption’, specifically for receiving bribes totalling $100 million.
Football fans are angry, and social media is ablaze with calls for FIFA president Sepp Blatter to resign.

But their calls aren’t being heard by the right people – because, like John Lewis and Breda O’Brien before her, the woman who owns the @fifa Twitter handle has fallen victim to the angry mob instead.
It appears that @fifa gets a lot of tweets that were meant for FIFA anyway, but yesterday’s events have ramped up the volume.
Here’s just a taster of the deluge of tweets from media organisations, official bodies and punters that @fifa has received since:
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
Her tweets are probably protected because she has nothing to do with FIFA, the poor sod.
The woman has admitted that social media have been “tough” for her over the past day:
Whoops!

The real FIFA holds the handle @FIFAcom. Direct your rage that way.
